HOUSTON (AP) A 31-year-old man has been charged with two counts of injury to the elderly after authorities found four men malnourished and held against their will in a dungeon-like Houston house. Police say Walter Renard Jones was arrested at the scene Friday and jailed without bond yesterday pending a court appearance next week.

HOUSTON (AP) A man convicted this week in the fatal stabbing 20 years ago of a 6-year-old Houston boy abducted from his home is headed to Texas death row. A Harris County jury deliberated about seven hours over two days before reaching a punishment verdict Friday in the case of 45-year-old Obel Cruz-Garcia. He was serving time for kidnapping in Puerto Rico in 2007 when DNA testing linked him to the rape and led to the capital murder charges for the slaying of Angelo Garcia.

CANISTOTA, S.D. (AP) Authorities have identified the man who drowned in a pond near South Dakota's Lake Vermillion as 24-year-old Jeremy Gilmore of Giddings, Texas. The McCook County Emergency Management Director tells The Argus Leader that officers continue to investigate the incident, which is being treated as an accident.

OXNARD, Calif. (AP) Jerry Jones opened his 25th training camp as owner of the Dallas Cowboys sounding as if coach Jason Garrett would be around for 25 more. The first vote of confidence came even before someone could ask a question at yesterday's annual "State of the Cowboys" press conference in Oxnard, California.
