AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A Texas judge says he plans to have a special prosecutor review allegations that Governor Rick Perry possibly violated the law over a veto that cut funding for public corruption investigators. Judge Robert Richardson tells the Austin-American Statesman that he expects to appoint a special prosecutor early as next week. Perry's office denies any wrongdoing.
FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) One of the soldiers killed during the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood cried out for her unborn child as she was fatally shot. Private Francheska Velez was among 13 people killed when a gunman opened fire inside a crowded medical building at the sprawling Central Texas Army post in 2009. Major Nidal Hasan is being court-martialed in the massacre.
