SAN ANTONIO (AP) Amtrak officials say none of the 46 passengers on a train that derailed in South Texas were hurt. The Express-News reports the train was headed from Chicago to San Antonio when it went off the tracks Friday night. The incident happened about two miles from the train's scheduled stop at Sunset Station near downtown San Antonio.
EL PASO, Texas (AP) A woman has died while three Fort Bliss soldiers and another woman were injured in a car accident on a West Texas highway. A Fort Bliss spokesman says the single-vehicle crash in El Paso happened early yesterday. The area where the incident happened is near one of the Army post's gates.
HOUSTON (AP) School officials from a Houston-area community say a bus transporting a girls track team crashed yesterday morning, injuring two students and the driver. The Houston Chronicle reports that the driver is believed to have passed out. A spokeswoman for the Humble Independent School District said the students from Kingwood High School and the driver were reported in good condition by mid-afternoon Saturday.
HOUSTON (AP) A car crashed into an apartment in north Houston after police say the driver was shot and lost control of the vehicle. Police say two cars were apparently chasing each other Friday evening after a fight when the driver of one of the vehicles was shot in the head and chest, losing control of his car. The wounded driver's name was not released last night.
