BELTON, Texas (AP) The civil attorney of the ex-Army officer sentenced to death for his bloody shooting rampage at Fort Hood is calling his conviction and sentence unfair. John Galligan is a former defense attorney for former Major Nidal Hasan, whom a military jury condemned to death today for the deaths of 13 people. The Belton attorney tells The Associated Press he "was very sad to hear the result".
DALLAS (AP) Megachurch pastor T.D. Jakes is bringing his MegaFest inspirational event home to Dallas for the first time this week, and it will feature everything from a film festival to a conversation with Oprah Winfrey. More than 50,000 people from around the world are expected to attend the three-day event, which kicks off tomorrow.
GALVESTON, Texas (AP) A guilty verdict has been returned in the trial of a Houston-area man who prosecutors say possessed more than 100,000 images and 2,000 videos of child pornography. A federal jury in Galveston found 72-year-old David Roetcisoender (RUHT'-sis-ender) guilty of distribution of child pornography and of possession of child pornography. The Pearland (PEHR'-luhnd) man was found guilty yesterday following a two-day trial.
HOUSTON (AP) A federal grand jury in Houston has indicted a man for sex trafficking in a case involving a 15-year-old girl who prosecutors say was forced into prostitution. Twenty-four-year-old Alexander Joseph Johnson of Houston remains in federal custody following his arrest August 6th.
