U.N. inspectors left Syria this weekend after a four-day investigation in the area where the U.S. State Department says over 1,400 Syrians were recently killed in a chemical attack by the ruling Bashir Assad regime.
KATY, Texas (AP) Police suspect dogs attacked and killed a 96-year-old man in the backyard of his suburban Houston home. Juan Campos' grandson found his body on Friday. Harris County Sheriff's Department Sergeant Ben Beall tells the Houston Chronicle animal control workers took six dogs from the home.
EDINBURG, Texas (AP) A South Texas man has been convicted of capital murder in the slaying of an 86-year-old World War Two veteran during a robbery. The Monitor of McAllen reports jurors in Edinburg found Leroy Arista guilty of capital murder on Friday in the 2011 death of Willis Kimmons.
CEDAR PARK, Texas (AP) An ex-Central Texas high school football player who had been accused earlier this month of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old boy is facing another similar charge. Gregory Kelley had been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child after a 4-year-old boy accused Kelley of having inappropriate contact with him at an in-home daycare in Cedar Park, located about 20 miles north of Austin. The 18-year-old Kelley is a senior at a high school in the nearby town of Leander. He remains free on bond.
