FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) A North Texas police officer has been fired after being accused of stealing more than $20,000 from a bank account to pay his personal bills. Officer Lovon Ponder Jr. was hired in October 2011. Records show Ponder allegedly obtained the routing and account number of a medical supply company after a refund check was mailed to his apartment in a former tenant's name.
HOUSTON (AP) A 17-year-old student charged with murder in a knife attack at his suburban Houston high school will appear in court tomorrow. Luis Alfaro was booked into a Harris County jail with bond set at $150,000 yesterday. The stabbings happened during a fight between several students in a school corridor and left one person dead.
SPRING, Texas (AP) About 200 people have turned out to pray for victims of a Houston-area school stabbing attack that left one teen dead and three wounded. Harris County jail records show Luis Alfaro is being held on a murder charge. The Reverend Mark Estep says mourners were on hand to pray for the community.
