HOUSTON (AP) Students at a Houston-area high school where a stabbing took place last week will enter the building tomorrow morning through metal detectors. KHOU-TV reports that Spring High School will search all students with either a handheld wand or a walk-through detector. Only clear backpacks will be allowed, and all but two entrances to the building will be closed.
DALLAS (AP) The embattled Dallas schools superintendent has been cleared by an investigation of wrongdoing in the handling of a contract. But the investigation found Mike Miles violated district policy by talking to witnesses in the process. The Dallas Morning News obtained a copy this weekend of the report of an investigation by Paul Coggins, a former U.S. attorney hired by the Dallas Independent School District.
DALLAS (AP) Investigators say a man shot by officers Friday night following a police chase in Dallas was the chief suspect in a slaying in a suburb that morning. The Dallas Morning News reported yesterday that Domingo Soto was killed in a confrontation with police in the Pleasant Grove neighborhood of southeast Dallas.
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) New Jersey governor Chris Christie may not be very popular with New York Giants fans after tonight's nationally televised game at the Dallas Cowboys. The governor, his wife and son are scheduled to be guests of Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterback Roger Staubach Sunday evening at AT and T Stadium in Arlington. The rumored 2016 Republican presidential contender says he's a lifelong Cowboys fan.
