FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) A Fort Worth man has been sentenced to life in prison in the slaying of a man during a home invasion robbery. James Arthur Jones is one of four suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of Kevan Dunlop. Dunlop's mother told the jury that her son was a college graduate who planned to attend law school.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The Texas Board of Education will hear testimony today on a curriculum system some conservatives say is too liberal or anti-American. Supporters say CSCOPE is critical for small school districts that lack enough resources to develop their own lesson plans. The Texas Legislature has passed a law requiring local school boards to approve any curriculum system.
HOUSTON (AP) Attorney General Greg Abbott will speak at an annual dinner tonight for a Texas anti-abortion group. Governor Rick Perry is scheduled to give the keynote address and Abbott will also give remarks. Both men fervently oppose abortion rights and have advocated some of the toughest abortion restrictions in the nation.

HOUSTON (AP) Houston's 1,500-acre Memorial Park is set for a redesign. The project could cost as much as $100 million and take as long as 20 years to complete. Landscape architecture firm Nelson Byrd Woltz has been chosen for the project.
