EL PASO, Texas (AP) A military report says a contaminated bunker discovered at Fort Bliss had nearly seven times more than the level of accepted radiation. Military inspectors found high levels of uranium in one specific location. University of Texas at El Paso expert John Walton says the amount of contamination was "not huge."
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A fourth man has died following a Friday crash on U.S. 290 east of Dripping Springs in Hays County. Antonio Vasquez died of injuries sustained in the crash. Oscar Ibarra-Gomez, Jesus Raul Arreola-Jimenez and Johnny Ibarra died at the scene.
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) A man who admitted to killing a rival for the affections of a client's ex-girlfriend is set for sentencing in a state court in Lubbock. David Shepard will receive a life sentence without parole for his guilty plea last month to capital murder. He admitted to killing Dr. Joseph Sonnier III.
DALLAS (AP) The congregation at Pleasant View Baptist Church wasn't the biggest or best known in the buckle of the Bible Belt. But it was a constant presence until earlier this year. Pastor Bob Hendley says the church "just ran out of people."
