BOISE, Idaho (AP) A medical emergency among the crew of a United Airlines flight from Houston prompted an emergency landing in Boise. An apparent heart attack on-board United flight 1603 prompted the emergency landing last night. The flight originated in Houston and was headed to Seattle.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Ted Cruz is heading back to Texas after a 21-plus hour speech on the U.S. Senate floor that left his already burning-bright political star white-hot. The tea party darling and possible 2016 GOP presidential candidate is keynoting an Austin conference tonight. Cruz has vowed to halt funding to the White House-backed health care reform law or shut down the government trying.
DALLAS (AP) The padlocks come of the gates today as the 2013 State Fair of Texas opens in Dallas with food, festivities and football. The 127th annual expo opens at Fair Park with "The One and Only" as this year's theme. The new Big Tex will be dedicated this afternoon. It replaces the previous model that burned toward the end of last year's fair.
IRVING, Texas (AP) Former President George W. Bush is set to give brief remarks as the first day of competitive play begins at his Warrior Open golf tournament. The first pairing is set to tee off this morning in the tournament that features wounded combat veterans. This is the third year that the George W. Bush Presidential Center has hosted the tournament.
