AUSTIN, Texas (AP) State insurance regulators are delving into Governor Rick Perry's order that navigators who will help Texans purchase health care coverage receive more training. Federal health officials are accusing Texas of throwing up more obstacles to the rollout of health care reform. Aides to Perry have defended the directive as a safeguard.
SEAGRAVES, Texas (AP) Five people have been killed near Seagraves after a pickup hit the back of another truck. A Dodge pickup struck the rear of a GMC truck. Romulo Molina, Luis Valenzuela, David Dominguez-Juarez, Isabel Garcia-De La Cerda and Juan Carlos Enriquez Mendoza died in the wreck. Authorities say alcohol might have been a factor in the crash.
BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) Federal officials aren't certain who to compensate five years after seizing land along the South Texas border with Mexico to build a fence. A federal judge last week reviewed 21 cases of land seized to allow for construction of the fence. The U.S. attorney's office for South Texas had requested a hearing to resolve confusion over ownership.
DALLAS (AP) Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is expected to testify in his federal trial on charges that he benefited from insider trading. The billionaire is accused of using insider information to dump his stock in a small Internet-search company in 2004. He avoided $750,000 in losses. The Securities and Exchange Commission wants Cuban to give up the money and pay a civil penalty.
