AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A man has died after being struck by an SUV while gathered with others under a carport. Wallace Sorrells was killed after being struck Saturday by the vehicle driven by Michael Smoltich. Smoltich is charged with driving with an invalid license, leaving the scene and three counts of failure to stop and render aid.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Regulators will meet today to discuss Governor Rick Perry's order for more training of health insurance coverage navigators. It comes after Perry directed the agency earlier this month to make sure navigators complete 40 hours of training in addition to their federal instruction. The health insurance marketplace is open for sign-ups tomorrow.
BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) Officials are trying to find who to pay after seizing land on a Texas border with Mexico. A planned fence was relocated after the land was deemed unsuitable for concrete. Nearby land was then purchased but it was determined the apparent owner only had an easement and that it was actually owned by someone else.
DALLAS (AP) Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is expected to testify in his federal trial scheduled to begin today on charges that he benefited from insider trading. The Securities and Exchange Commission's key evidence is a phone call between Cuban and the CEO of Mamma.com. The SEC says the CEO told Cuban he had confidential information to share and Cuban agreed to keep it to himself.
