AUSTIN, Texas (AP) State Senator Wendy Davis is expected to announce her campaign for governor today. Davis would be the first Democrat to announce a campaign for the office. Attorney General Greg Abbott is the front-runner for the Republican nomination. Abbott has already raised $25 million. Davis has a little more than $1 million.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Texas men's athletic director DeLoss Dodds is calling it quits. School President Bill Powers said whoever replaces Dodds has "huge shoes to fill" but will find more than a solid foundation in place to keep the program going strong. Texas ranks as the wealthiest athletic program in the country.
DALLAS (AP) Mark Cuban is set to take the witness stand today in his federal insider-trading trial. Cuban is likely to say he never promised to refrain from selling his shares in an Internet company after learning news that would cause their value to fall. The verdict could come down to whether jurors believe the billionaire Dallas Mavericks owner's account of a 2004 phone call.
DALLAS (AP) A former TCU football player has pleaded guilty to mail fraud related to a foreign currency exchange scheme. A four-count indictment accused Eldon A. Gresham Jr. of fraudulently obtaining $15.8 million by making false representations to investors in a trading business. The government says he targeted Christian investors by claiming his currency trading was a gift from God.
