EL PASO, Texas (AP) Prosecutors are expected to finish their case against a West Texas lawyer accused of conspiring to launder drug money. Marco Delgado is accused of devising a scheme to launder up to $600 million for a Mexican drug cartel in 2007 and 2008. Delgado gave a $250,000 endowment for a Carnegie Mellon scholarship named after him to assist Hispanic students.
DALLAS (AP) The Dallas police officer who shot a mentally ill man in a disputed incident caught on tape is facing a disciplinary hearing. Cardan Spencer could be fired. Spencer wrote in a police report that Bobby Bennett threatened him and another officer with a knife last week. Video captured by a neighbor's camera shows Bennett didn't appear to move toward the officers at all until he crumpled to the ground from a gunshot.
DALLAS (AP) The University of Dallas is receiving a $12 million gift for a new building at its business school. Satish and Yasmin Gupta founded the private steel company SB International. The money will go to a new academic building for the Gupta College of Business.
DALLAS (AP) The gold wedding band of accused assassin Lee Harvey Oswald set to go up for auction. The ring is among almost 300 items offered by RR Auction that are tied to the life and death of President John F. Kennedy. An auction house official says the ring could go for $100,000 or more.
