BRYAN, Texas (AP) A Bryan man who pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery for his role in the slaying of a teen shot in the eye before being robbed of his drugs, gun and money has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. Eugene Jenkins was sentenced Thursday after entering the plea in July. Clifton Montgomery was sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of capital murder in August.
EL PASO, Texas (AP) The trial of a West Texas lawyer accused of conspiring to launder drug money could soon wrap up. Marco Delgado says he never knew the funds he handled were from illegal activity. Federal agents have testified that Delgado confessed and agreed to cooperate but then continued moving drug money behind his handlers' backs.
GRANBURY, Texas (AP) The 127-year-old Granbury Opera House is set to reopen in December after undergoing a makeover for the last two years. Many of the improvements to the opera house will be backstage. Renovations were needed to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act and to add more restrooms.
MARSHALL, Texas (AP) Debaters from Texas' Wiley College have traveled to California for a rematch of a 1935 debate that served as inspiration for the movie "The Great Debaters." Wiley had ceased to have a debate team before movie rekindled interest in 2007. The team was resurrected in 2008.
