BOERNE, Texas (AP) Authorities say one person has died after a small plane crashed and burst into flames in Central Texas. The Department of Public Safety says the accident happened yesterday afternoon east of Boerne (BER'-nee). Trooper Deon Cockrell says the plane was flying low when it crashed along State Highway 46.
DALLAS (AP) A Dallas-area man faces trial over the 2012 burning death of a convenience store clerk who police say was set on fire during a robbery. The capital murder trial of 38-year-old Matthew Johnson opens today in Dallas. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Johnson in the slaying of 76-year-old Nancy Harris.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A new public drinking fountain has the blessing of some Central Texas church leaders who are helping the homeless gain access to clean water. The Rev. Charles Kullmann of St. Austin Catholic Parish yesterday blessed the fountain. Kullmann says the water fountain in downtown Austin should help meet a basic need of the homeless.
EL PASO, Texas (AP) Closing arguments are expected today in the trial of a West Texas lawyer accused of conspiring to launder $600 million for a Mexican drug cartel. The defense rested Friday in the trial of Marco Antonio Delgado. He is accused of conspiring with the ex-wife of a former Mexican president and others to launder money in 2007 and 2008.
