AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A third of Texas' abortion clinics can no longer perform the procedure after a federal appeals court allowed most of the state's new abortion restrictions to take effect. A 5th Circuit Court of Appeals panel ruled that Texas can enforce its law requiring doctors to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital while a lawsuit moves forward.
MATAGORDA, Texas (AP) One of the largest deep sea oyster reef restoration projects ever done in the Gulf of Mexico is underway off the Texas coast. Nature Conservancy is working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to rebuild what was once the 400-acre Half Moon Reef in Matagorda Bay. The reef was destroyed by overharvesting and other factors.
DALLAS (AP) Art objects from an Etruscan tomb are going on display for the first time at a Dallas museum. The items going on display Friday at the Dallas Museum of Art are from a 5th-century B.C. burial site discovered in Italy almost a century ago. The exhibit will be on view at the museum through 2017.
DALLAS (AP) Dallas police officers can wear a special badge this month to pay tribute to Officer J.D. Tippit. Tippit saw a man walking down a street in a nearby Oak Cliff neighborhood shortly after John F. Kennedy's assassination. Lee Harvey Oswald opened fire after Tippit got out of his patrol car and killed Tippit instantly. This month marks the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy's assassination and Tippit's slaying.
