FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) A Fort Hood sergeant convicted in a prostitution and adultery case allegedly involving cash-strapped female soldiers has been reprimanded and demoted. A military jury late Tuesday convicted Master Sgt. Brad Grimes of conspiring to patronize a prostitute and solicitation to commit adultery. The 17-year Army veteran was demoted one pay grade and reprimanded during the court martial.

HOUSTON (AP) A school principal in Houston has been accused of shoplifting about $350 worth of Christmas ornaments and men's clothing from a department store. The Houston Independent School District on Tuesday said Tammie Daily has been temporarily reassigned from Shadydale Elementary School. An attorney for Daily says the 52-year-old woman put the ornaments in a shopping bag Sunday and then forgot to pay. Daily paid for the items after being stopped by store personnel, but was then arrested, charged and later released.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) A 17-year-old South Texas mother has died after being stabbed while holding her baby at a bus stop, and police later arrested her ex-boyfriend. San Antonio police say the infant girl was not hurt in the attack Tuesday afternoon. Police did not immediately release the name of the slain teenager, who died at a San Antonio hospital, or charges pending against the 17-year-old suspect.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) A jury is set to hear testimony from the first witness at the trial of a former BP drilling engineer from Texas. Kurt Mix is charged with deleting text messages and voicemails about the company's response to its massive 2010 oil spill. An FBI supervisor who worked on the case against Mix is expected to testify Wednesday when the federal trial resumes in New Orleans. Mix has pleaded not guilty.
