DALLAS (AP) The Dallas Marathon has been canceled due to a major winter storm that has dumped snow and freezing rain on North Texas. Marathon organizers announced the cancellation of Sunday's race in a Friday afternoon press release. Organizers said they made the decision not to go forward with the marathon after consulting with Dallas police and city officials.

DALLAS (AP) Transportation in North Texas struggled to recover from disruptions caused by accumulated ice and sleet. Freezing rain and sleet yesterday forced the cancellation of more than 750 airline departures from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. That's about 90 percent of the Friday flight schedule. At Dallas Love Field, Southwest Airlines cancelled 42 departures.

NEW YORK (AP) A New York judge has refused to block a merger between American Airlines and US Airways, saying a bankruptcy judge was right to reject the arguments made by a lawyer for some consumers. U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska ruled yesterday that U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane was "correct in all respects" in deciding last week to let the merger involving Fort Worth-based American to proceed.

HOUSTON (AP) The Texans have fired special teams coordinator Joe Marciano. Houston made the move on Friday, a few hours after firing head coach Gary Kubiak. The Texans have lost 11 straight games and will now be coached by defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.
