DALLAS (AP) Authorities say treacherous sections of icy Interstate 35 north of Dallas have been closed for hours at a time intermittently over the last day as tractor-trailers have difficulty climbing hills, wrecks occur and vehicles stall. Jody Gonzalez, chief of Denton County Emergency Services, said yesterday about 200 people have been in shelters in the Sanger area about 50 miles north of Dallas after getting stuck.

AMARILLO, Texas (AP) Several cold weather records have been set or tied around Texas with this week's storm. In Amarillo, the temperature early yesterday dropped to 3 degrees, equaling a mark from 2005. Similarly, Borger tied its record low mark of 5, also from 2005.A half-inch of snow Thursday in Wichita Falls is the most ever since records began in 1897.

TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) The Live United Texarkana Bowl in Texarkana between Harding University and Texas A and M Commerce has been rescheduled. Harding officials say the bowl game that was postponed because of wintry weather is now scheduled for December 13th with kickoff set for 6 p.m.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Fort Worth police say they've shot and killed a dog that was attacking a man. Police spokesman Captain Charles Ramirez says 18-year-old Estrado Alfono was treated for injuries suffered early Friday when he was attacked by three mix bull mixes. One dog was shot. The two others were taken away by animal control officers.
