GRAPEVINE, Texas (AP) The cots have been dispensed at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and airport staffers are passing out free coffee, cookies and sandwiches to iced-in travelers. A few dozen people appeared to be sleeping on cots yesterday afternoon inside Terminal D at the sprawling airport. Twenty-six-year-old Joel Dutton of Huntsville, Alabama says he's in good spirits even though he'll have to sleep on a cot due to this weekend's winter weather delaying or cancelling flights.
DENTON, Texas (AP) A person has died after a pickup truck went off of an icy Interstate 35 bridge and into Lake Lewisville in North Texas. The Denton County Sheriff's Office says that the vehicle went over a guardrail off the interstate early yesterday morning and killed one person.
PECOS, Texas (AP) Transportation officials say a multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 10 in West Texas has closed a portion of the highway and claimed a person's life. Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Santos Carrasco Junior says the pileup occurred yesterday and involved 10 vehicles. He says one person has died but the person's name was not released. The accident happened about 160 miles east of El Paso and four miles east of the Interstate 20 interchange.
HOUSTON (AP) Chad Qualls is returning to the Houston Astros, his original team. The right-handed reliever agreed to a two-year contract Saturday with a team option for 2016. Qualls went 5-2 with a 2.61 ERA for the Miami Marlins last season.
