SAN ANTONIO (AP) A San Antonio police officer shot in the head by robbery suspects during a chase almost two weeks ago has died. Robert Deckard's family says his organs will be donated in the coming days. Two people have been charged in the shooting of the 31-year-old officer.

CALDWELL, Texas (AP) Burleson County authorities have identified a man they are accusing of killing a sheriff's deputy. Henry Magee was arrested after Adam Sowders was fatally shot Thursday morning while he and other officers served a warrant at a home east of Somerville, about 90 miles northwest of Houston.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) President Barack Obama has declared a major disaster in areas of Central Texas hit by flooding in late October. The area now eligible for federal aid to repair storm damage includes Caldwell, Hays and Travis counties.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The Texas unemployment rate has dropped for four months in a row. Private-sector employers added more than 20,000 jobs in November and the state's unemployment rate dipped a tenth of a point to 6.1 percent. Midland had the lowest rate last month and the highest rate was in the McAllen-Edinburg-Mission area. The national jobless rate is 7 percent.
