NORMAN, Okla. (AP) The Storm Prediction Center says icing could occur overnight from northwestern Texas across central Oklahoma and into Missouri, but warm ground temperatures could diminish part of the threat. The greatest ice accumulations are expected on elevated surfaces such as bridges or overpasses.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Bundles of gifts for eight needy families have been stolen from a Salvation Army warehouse in North Texas. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports bundles filled with items bought by donors from lists hung on Angel Trees were stolen Thursday night in Arlington.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) A San Antonio police officer shot in the head while chasing robbery suspects has died of his injuries. Authorities announced yesterday that 31-year-old Robert Deckard died at a San Antonio hospital, 12 days after being shot during a high-speed chase. Police Chief William McManus said in a statement that the Deckard family thanked the community for prayers and support in recent days. Funeral arrangements are pending.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A foster care agency that oversaw a home in which an 11-month-old was killed disputes the findings of the state's investigation into the death. The American-Statesman reported this week the state ordered Lutheran Social Services of the South stop taking children into its Austin-area program. State officials said the agency knew that Jacob Salas a man with a history of drug, alcohol and domestic abuse visited the Cedar Park home where the child was living but failed to keep him away.
