EL PASO, Texas (AP) Flu cases are starting to add up across in Texas. Officials say more than a dozen people have died in the Houston area and most had the H1N1 strain that's also known as the swine flu. At least victim was a teenager.
HOUSTON (AP) A gay rights group is suing to preserve Houston's extension of benefits to legally married same-sex spouses of city employees. The city's openly gay mayor announced the expanded coverage last month but a state judge has since blocked the move. A court hearing is scheduled for early January.
IRVING, Texas (AP) Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has had back surgery and will miss winner-take-all season finale against Philadelphia. Romo underwent surgery Friday after consulting with doctors during the week following his injury against Washington. Kyle Orton will start Sunday against Philadelphia.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) An Aggie ring flushed down a toilet two years ago has been returned to its owner thanks to a sharp-eyed worker at a wastewater treatment plant in College Station. Plant technician Ron Waters spotted the ring earlier this month and used Texas A&M records to get in touch with Megan Hubbard.
