CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) Coast Guard crews are searching for two men who set out to go sailing from Port Aransas to Galveston but didn't return at the expected time. The Coast Guard says they were searching for 27-year-old Patrick Holden and 26-year-old Joe Squibb, who had gone sailing on a 25-foot sailboat.
DALLAS (AP) A Dallas County state district judge charged with family violence assault has filed a motion challenging his girlfriend's claims that he choked her, leaned her over the edge of the balcony at his apartment and threatened to kill her. Carlos Cortez says his girlfriend was trying to kill herself and he tried to pull her away from the balcony. Cortez is charged with assault family violence, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Fort Worth police say a woman has been arrested after telling officers that she stabbed her 3-year-old son. Nadia Douglas was arrested at the scene Saturday on suspicion of causing serious bodily injury to a child. The 33-year-old Douglas remains in Mansfield Jail on $500,000 bond. The boy was being treated at Cook Children's Medical Center.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) Warren Buffett's company has agreed to trade roughly $1.4 billion of its stock in Phillips 66 for one of the refiner's chemical businesses. Houston-based Phillips 66 says Berkshire Hathaway will give up about 19 million shares to acquire a business that makes additives that help crude oil flow through pipelines.
