FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Police say a tow truck driver was shot in the early hours of New Year's Day as he tried to help three men stranded on a freeway in Fort Worth. Twenty-six-year-old Shane Crowson has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The shot hit the driver, who was taken to a hospital. His condition was not immediately known.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Court records show that a man arrested Tuesday for killing his ex-wife after a five-hour standoff had a tumultuous marriage that ended in divorce and a protective order against him. Forty-nine-year-old John St. Angelo surrendered after police used a robot to throw tear gas inside a house where he was holed up. Police say St. Angelo had a self-inflicted wound and remained hospitalized yesterday.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A San Antonio man has been arrested for allegedly bludgeoning another man to death with a sledgehammer at a New Year Eve party. Investigators searching under a tarp in the yard recovered the body of a 28-year-old man outside a home on the city's east side. The victim and suspect were not immediately identified. The two men are believed to have become involved in an altercation around 9 a.m.

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) A 16-foot albino python that was something of a celebrity around the Gulf Coast city of Beaumont has died. The Burmese Python known as Banana was found dead in her indoor enclosure in Gator County about three weeks ago .Banana made news in 2012 when it was kidnapped, and then again when she was found months later. The python was a star attraction at a Gator County reptile theme park. The snake lived there since 2007, when she was found roaming an abandoned Houston apartment complex.
