DALLAS (AP) An unidentified male suspect has been fatally shot by Dallas police who answered a call about a possible burglary at a luxury high-rise complex. Police say the shooting happened early this morning in the Uptown neighborhood. No officers were hurt during the gunfire that shattered some lobby windows of the Glass House residences.
AZLE, Texas (AP) A member of the Texas Railroad Commission wants to hear from the public about a series of minor earthquakes in Parker County. Commissioner David Porter will host a town hall meeting starting at 5 p.m. today at Azle (AY'-zil) High School in Azle. The commission regulates oil and gas operations. Authorities are trying to figure out what's been causing the earthquakes in an area about 20 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
HOUSTON (AP) EPL Oil & Gas Inc. is buying some oil and natural gas assets from Nexen Petroleum Offshore U.S.A. Inc. for $70.4 million. Houston-based EPL says the assets are in the shallow-water central Gulf of Mexico and currently produce about 900 net barrels of oil equivalent a day, with approximately 95 percent being oil. The transaction is expected to close later this month.
DALLAS (AP) Firefighters used sonar equipment and a camera to rescue a canine named Chloe that got trapped in a Dallas apartment complex drain pipe for about two hours. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded yesterday to rescue the stranded Yorkshire terrier that could be heard whining. Firefighters cut a hole through the pipe to reach the dog, which had slipped out of the family's apartment.
