AMARILLO, Texas (AP) A forklift and truck accident at a wrecker service in the Texas Panhandle has left one worker dead and another seriously hurt. Amarillo police say the accident happened yesterday afternoon at HD Wrecker service when a pickup truck being worked on fell on the victims. The man was dead at the scene. The woman suffered life-threatening injuries.

WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama will announce five "Promise Zones" this week as part of his effort to focus on income inequality in the lead-up to his State of the Union address. Promise Zones are areas where the federal government provides tax incentives and grants to help communities tackle poverty. Tomorrow, Obama will announce the first Promise Zone locations, including San Antonio, Texas.

NEW YORK (AP) Medical device maker ArthroCare Corp. has agreed to pay a $30 million fine to resolve a federal investigation into alleged securities fraud by former management. The Justice Department is charging the Austin-based company with conspiracy to commit securities fraud and wire fraud, but will enter into a two-year deferred prosecution agreement. ArthroCare says the deal will end the government's investigation.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel is set to visit Texas today. Hagel will first stop at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio to visit with wounded veterans, hospital workers and staff. At noon CST, he will speak at the Center for the Intrepid, thanking service members for their care and support of wounded troops. Later, Hagel will travel to New Mexico.
