ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) The Democratic front-runner for governor has announced the first of her education proposals. State Senator Wendy Davis wants to guarantee admission to state universities for top students who want to teach, forgive some student loans and boost teacher pay. She says she wouldn't seek a tax increase to pay for the proposals.

DALLAS (AP) Jury selection is underway in Dallas in Josh Brent's manslaughter trial. The former Cowboys player is accused of driving drunk and crashing his car in Irving in 2012, killing his friend Jerry Brown who was on the practice squad. Brent faces up to 20 years in prison.

BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) A Romanian court says a man accused of killing his wife and adult son at a house near Houston should be returned to the United States to face charges. Camil Matase was caught in eastern Romania in November. He's facing capital murder charges.

McALLEN, Texas (AP) Authorities say a Weslaco woman who worked at a security company stole customer information in a scheme to collect jobless benefits. They say Alejandra Resendez used Social Security numbers and other private information to file for the benefits over a two-and-a-half year period beginning in mid-2010.
