HOUSTON (AP) An autopsy has been ordered on a body found floating in a Houston bayou. Houston police say some people who were fishing spotted the man's body Monday night in an area near the Port of Houston. Investigators examined a nearby bridge for possible clues on how the man ended up in the water. Further details weren't immediately released.
HOUSTON (AP) Houston-based Stage Stores Inc. has lowered its full-year earnings forecast after disappointing sales during the recent holiday period. CEO Michael Glazer says sales were strong in early November and during Thanksgiving and Black Friday, but that traffic slowed in the weeks leading up to Christmas. There were also six fewer shopping days during the holiday period.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) American Airlines and US Airways next week will begin selling tickets on each other's flights in a move toward combining fleets after their 2013 merger. It's a step toward eliminating the US Airways name in about two years and operating flights under the Fort Worth-based American banner.
HOUSTON (AP) A body found buried under a chicken coop has been identified as a Houston-area man who disappeared on New Year's Eve. The Harris County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as 41-year-old Jesus Leal Valdez of Pasadena. A tip led to the discovery Saturday of his body buried a couple of feet beneath the coop in a backyard. Authorities did not immediately release a cause of death.
