AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The operator of the electricity transmission grid for most of Texas says they've returned to normal operations following a sudden power plant outage. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, or ERCOT, said yesterday that the system "recovered quickly and remained reliable as reserves were deployed." They said normal operations resumed after additional generation came on-line.
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) A Lubbock police officer has shot and wounded a man who aimed a gun at him after police responded to a report of a person threatening residents with a gun. After 33-year-old Daniel Moreno was wounded, police found two women they believed had been shot by him. Later they realized the women had instead been severely beaten. A release Saturday from Lubbock police said that Moreno remains in critical condition and has been charged with attempted capital murder and two aggravated assaults. The women have been released from University Medical Center.
HOUSTON (AP) Authorities say a 3-year-old boy has died after being struck by a car in the parking lot of a strip shopping center in Houston. The Chronicle reports the boy was struck by the motorist on Friday afternoon.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) A man wanted in the hit-and-run death of a 9-year-old girl in San Antonio has been arrested while trying to cross the border into Mexico. Authorities say 39-year-old Isidro Espinosa-Solis was arrested Friday night at the Laredo Port of Entry by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.
