SAN ANTONIO (AP) A South Texas bar manager faces an upgraded manslaughter charge in the death of a patron who allegedly was punched by the worker. San Antonio police say Daniel Longoria originally was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury in the incident with Mitchell Jeremy Sanderson.

KILLEEN, Texas (AP) A Central Texas police department has fired its animal control manager amid allegations of poor care and treatment of creatures in a shelter. Chief Dennis Baldwin says Stacey Sherva neglected her duties. Baldwin says a review found substandard management of employees and lack of care and treatment of animals under the shelter's care. He did not elaborate.

NOLANVILLE, Texas (AP) Nolanville police have asked for the public's help in identifying two men seen on surveillance video stealing used cooking oil from outside a restaurant. Investigators say two thieves with a flatbed truck hauling a white plastic tank cut the padlock on the restaurant storage container. Used cooking oil was pumped into the tank before the suspects drove away. Crime Stoppers has offered rewards of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the thieves.

MIDLAND, Texas (AP) Much of West Texas faces extreme wildfire danger Thursday because of gusty winds and plummeting humidity. The National Weather Service has issued a "red flag warning" for the Permian Basin and much of the Trans-Pecos region of West Texas.
