DALLAS (AP) Super Bowl Sunday will be a good day to stay in front of a warm television set for North and West Texans. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning today for the South Plains and Rolling Plains of West Texas, where forecasters expect accumulations of up to four inches of snow. A winter weather advisory was in effect for Sunday with light icing of elevated roads and bridges expected in from the Concho Valley to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Texas House Speaker Joe Straus has ordered hearings on school cheating in the wake of a scandal that sent El Paso's former school superintendent to prison. The El Paso Times reports ex-superintendent Lorenzo Garcia is serving more than three years in federal prison for tampering with high-stakes tests to improve district ratings government accountability tests.

WASHINGTON (AP) Four states passed statutes last year that will allow students who came to the U.S. without legal permission as minors to pay in-state college tuition. The National Conference of State Legislatures says Texas is among 15 states that now have in-state tuition statutes. Critics say helping these students encourages unlawful behavior and means they potentially are taking someone else's seat at taxpayers' expense.

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska (AP) A paratrooper from Fort Worth has collapsed and died after a training jump in Alaska. Officials said yesterday that 34-year-old Sergeant Jose Maria Pasillas was pronounced dead just after 8 p.m. Thursday.
