HOUSTON (AP) A Houston school volunteer who noticed some kids' meager lunches has paid $465 out of his own pocket to pay off delinquent meal accounts. Kenny Thompson says he asked about the lunch differences after hearing about some Utah students who lost meals because of non-payment. He learned 60 students at Valley Oaks Elementary were on reduced lunches because their parents couldn't afford the daily fee.

IRVING, Texas (AP) The weekly check of gasoline prices across Texas finds they've dropped an average of two cents per gallon this week. The auto club says the statewide average is $3.07. That's 30 cents less than a year ago.
