FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) The NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Texas is going to the ducks this spring. Texas Motor Speedway today announced a multiyear title sponsorship agreement for its spring race with Duck Commander, the brand of best-selling duck calls and Robertson family-owned company featured on the A&E show "Duck Dynasty." The deal is for the spring race at the track. The April 6th race will be known as the Duck Commander 500.

DALLAS (AP) Passenger traffic and a key revenue measure are up at Southwest and AirTran. Dallas-based Southwest Airlines Company says today that passengers flew 7.41 billion miles last month, up 2.2 percent from January 2013. Most of the increase was due to longer trips the average rose to 961 miles. The number of paying passengers rose just 0.3 percent.

WACO, Texas (AP) A convicted felon has been sentenced to life in prison for stealing a gold ring from a mentally impaired man who received the jewelry after working 10 years at a fast-food restaurant. The Waco Tribune-Herald reports jurors earlier Wednesday convicted Ruben Alaniz of Riesel (REE'-s'l) of aggravated robbery of a disabled person.

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Texas and Oklahoma led the nation in the number of tornadoes in 2013. Greg Carbin, the warning coordination meteorologist with the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, told the Tulsa World newspaper the national total of 898 tornadoes was well below normal, which is about 1,000.
