DALLAS (AP) The CEO of American Airlines Group is netting a profit of $13.4 million after selling about one-third of his holdings in the company. American and US Airways merged in December, and Doug Parker took the helm of the combined airline. Parker still owns nearly 1.4 million shares of Fort Worth-based American.
HOUSTON (AP) Oilfield services company Baker Hughes Incorporated says the number of rigs exploring for oil and natural gas in the U.S. declined by seven this week to 1,764. The Houston based firm said in its weekly report today that Texas lost five rigs, Louisiana declined by four, Oklahoma lost three, and Colorado lost two. West Texas intermediate crude futures closed the week at $100.30 a barrel.
GARDEN RIDGE, Texas (AP) Police say preliminary autopsy results show that a Colorado woman who went missing in Central Texas nearly a month ago hanged herself shortly after saying she was going out for a walk. Thirty-three-year-old Leanne Bearden disappeared January 17th after leaving the home of her husband's parents in Garden Ridge, located just outside of San Antonio. The Express-News reports her body was found Thursday in a thickly wooded area about a half mile from the house.
HOUSTON (AP) A former Harris County deputy constable is charged with using information obtained while doing that job to file false tax returns. Federal officials tell KHOU TV Vernon Matthews was charged in a five-count indictment returned Tuesday.
