HOUSTON (AP) The Texas Medical Board has temporarily suspended the license of a Houston abortion provider after determining he didn't follow a recently approved law requiring admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. The Austin-based board says Dr. Theodore Herring Jr. had performed 268 unlawful abortions and continuing his practice would be a "continuing threat to public welfare." A hearing on the suspension could be held in 10 days.
