GATESVILLE, Texas (AP) Authorities say a Central Texas man suspected of shooting a woman killed himself after his vehicle was stopped by police. Coryell County Sheriff officials say 37-year-old Franklin Wayne Ingram shot himself with a 12-gauge shotgun Wednesday in Gatesville. After being stopped by a sheriff's investigator, the man got out of his vehicle carrying a shotgun, ignored several orders to drop his weapon, then shot himself.

HOUSTON (AP) Houston's Menil Collection has unveiled design plans for a drawing institute, which will be devoted to the exhibit, study, storage and conservation of artworks on paper. The design for the $40 million Menil Drawing Institute on the art museum's campus will feature a roof of thin steel plate that resembles a piece of folded paper. Construction of the nearly 30,000-square-foot building is set to begin in early 2015.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The Texas Senate Health and Human Services Committee is checking in on women's health programs as activists prepare to protest the exclusion of Planned Parenthood. The Republican-controlled Legislature voted to shift funds into other programs, such as preventive health care. But women's health advocates worry that those programs don't reach the neediest women the same way that clinics like Planned Parenthood did.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) An ex-soldier facing life in prison with no chance at parole hanged himself in his Arizona prison cell and left no note to explain why. Steven Dale Green, of Midland, Texas, took his own life Saturday, years after a federal jury spared him a death sentence in the 2006 attack on the teenage Iraqi girl and the shotgun slaying of her mother, father and younger sister near Mahmoudiya (mahk-moo-DEE'-ah), Iraq.
