AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The FBI will investigate a Central Texas sheriff's deputy use of a stun gun on a high school student that resulted in severe injuries to the 17-year-old. FBI officials tell say the inquiry will look into whether the Bastrop County sheriff's deputy who used the stun gun and another who was at the scene used excessive force on Noe Nino de Rivera or whether they misused their power.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) An Air Force sergeant has been charged with raping three women, including a Lackland Air Force Base basic trainee, as long ago as 1992. Master Sgt. Michael Silva serves in a base support unit at what is now called Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. He faces life imprisonment if convicted at court-martial of the charges.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Hundreds of items from the estate of the celebrated pianist Van Cliburn are scheduled to go up for auction next month. The New York auction house Christie's has scheduled a March 4-5 auction of the Van Cliburn collection. The items were left behind in Cliburn's Fort Worth-area mansion when he died a year ago this month.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) A South Texas sheriff's deputy has been indicted on a murder count in the fatal shooting of a motorist after a minor traffic accident in San Antonio. Bexar (BAYR) County sheriff's Deputy Anthony Thomas was indicted Thursday in the August 2013 death of Mathew Jackson. He was released on $50,000 bond, but a statement from the Bexar County Sheriff's Office says he's been placed on paid administrative leave until his dismissal can be processed.
