LENEXA, Kan. (AP) Kansas authorities have issued an Amber Alert for a missing Texas teenager who might be in suburban Kansas City. Law enforcement is searching for 15-year-old Nomei "Mimi" Velazquez, who went missing from Nacogdoches, Texas, on Monday. The teenager is 4-feet-11-inches, 120 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, black tennis shoes, carrying a brown purse and wearing glasses. Authorities say she might be with Juan Fabian Arenas Delacruz, who is 5-foot-11 and 170 lbs. They are possibly in a silver 2004 Volkswagen Passat with Texas plate DF7T507.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) A worker at a North Texas shoe store has been fatally shot during a robbery and police are looking for the attacker. Arlington police say the 22-year-old victim was gunned down Tuesday afternoon at the store in a strip mall. Investigators are seeking a light-color pickup truck seen leaving the crime scene.

DALLAS (AP) Dallas police say two people have been fatally shot while at a nightclub. Police on Wednesday did not immediately say whether any suspects are being sought or a possible motive for the gunfire that happened Tuesday night. Names of the two people who died weren't immediately released.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) It's now defense attorneys' turn to counter prosecutors' efforts to obtain a death sentence for a man convicted of capital murder in the slaying of an Austin police officer. Brandon Daniel's attorneys will begin presenting evidence Wednesday to the Travis County jury, a day after prosecutors rested their case. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. Officer Jaime Padron (HEYE'-may pah-DRONE') was shot to death April 6, 2012, while answering a disturbance and shoplifting call at a Wal-Mart.
