The notice of appeal contains no argument but formally signals that Attorney General Greg Abbott intends to challenge the ruling by San Antonio-based Judge Orlando Garcia.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) The maker of Red Wing shoes is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of a suspect in an Arlington robbery that left the store manager dead. Police have released surveillance video of a person in a hooded sweatshirt carrying a gun and pointing. Randy Pacheco died in the robbery Tuesday.
ALLEN, Texas (AP) The Allen Independent School District in North Texas is closing its $60 million football stadium indefinitely after cracks were found in the building's concrete. School officials say Eagle Stadium will stay closed until at least June and possibly into the upcoming school year. The stadium opened two years ago amid heavy fanfare and national attention.
GALVESTON, Texas (AP) NASA has awarded Texas A-and-M University at Galveston a one-year, $100,000 grant to study why seaweed is infesting Texas beaches. A-and-M-Galveston marine scientists Tom Linton and Robert Webster have been working to predict where and when the ugly, smelly Sargassum seaweed will wash ashore.
