CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) A Mathis man faces life in prison and a possible $10 million fine for helping lead a drug ring with ties to Mexico. Ricardo Guerrero was found guilty of conspiracy to commit drug trafficking, conspiracy to launder money and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Prosecutors say the methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine ring operated since 2009.
McALLEN, Texas (AP) A trial of a South Texas man and his son accused in the 2012 shooting of a federal agent who was on drug-patrol duty continues today. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Kelton Harrison yesterday testified about the night he was shot while maintaining drug-related surveillance. Prosecutors say Pedro and Arnoldo Alvarado were involved in drug trafficking.
HOUSTON (AP) A 17-year-old Houston mother has been charged with child endangerment after her toddler was hospitalized for alcohol poisoning. Houston police say the girl has recovered from the February incident. The child's blood alcohol level was 0.268. That's more than three times the adult legal limit for driving in Texas.
GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) Authorities investigating the death of a Grapevine man at Grand Canyon National Park believe he fell about 350 feet from the edge after trying to retrieve something. John Anderson of Grapevine died Saturday after falling from the South Rim near El Tovar Lodge. Rangers found Anderson's body in a rock outcropping.
