DEL RIO, Texas (AP) A former South Texas police officer has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for dealing in child pornography. Jason Lee Villasana (vee-uh-SAH'-nuh) was fired by the Sabinal (SAB'-uh-nahl) Police Department after his late 2012 arrest. Villasana last August pleaded guilty to distribution of child porn in a case going back to mid-2011.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) San Antonio police say a tip has led to the arrest of a vehicle theft suspect who was handcuffed but allegedly stole a patrol SUV. Andrew Davila (DAH'-vuh-luh) was recaptured Thursday at a residence. Davila faces charges including evading arrest and theft of a vehicle.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Federal data shows that black male students in Texas are suspended nearly five times more frequently than whites. A U.S. Department of education report says 14 percent of Texas black boys were suspended during the 2011-2012 school year. That's compared to 3 percent of white males. The national average for suspensions among black males was 20 percent.

KERRVILLE, Texas (AP) Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst and state Senator Dan Patrick are making a relatively rare joint appearance. Dewhurst and Patrick will address the Republican Women of Kerr County in Kerrville today. The Kerrville event could be one of the few occasions both appear together.
