AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Gov. Rick Perry will be among the dignitaries gathering on the Texas Capitol grounds to dedicate a monument to Vietnam War veterans. The dedication Saturday morning marks the 41st anniversary of the last U.S. troops leaving South Vietnam. About a half-million Texans served in the war, with more than 3,400 losing their lives and 105 still missing in action.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A key state agency has hired a seismologist, part of an effort to tackle a sudden increase in earthquakes in areas of Texas with significant oil and gas drilling activities. The Texas Railroad Commission, which regulates drilling statewide, announced Friday that it had hired seismologist David Pearson.

HOUSTON (AP) One of the biggest Texas liquor store chains has reported a security breach that exposed personal information of customers at some of its smaller stores. The Houston-based Spec's chain says the breach exposed data from October 31st, 2012 through March 20th, 2014.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) An algae bloom that can cause some shellfish to produce a toxin has prompted the state to close Texas coastal bays from Matagorda Bay to Corpus Christi Bay to oyster, clam and mussel harvesting. The Texas Department of State Health Services says the move is a temporary and precautionary measure after its crews found elevated levels of Dinophysis algae in coastal waters.
