ROCKWALL, Texas (AP) A Northeast Texas man faces up to life in prison is he's convicted of murder for the hit-and-run death of Texarkana police officer last year. Justin Sanders is charged with running over Texarkana officer Jason Sprague while fleeing a possible marijuana arrest during an illegal party involving about 100 people at a closed city park last June. Sprague died a day later.

LEWISVILLE, Texas (AP) Fire crews have been patrolling an area along Lake Lewisville where a stubborn 100-acre brush fire has drawn the attention of 13 fire departments. The closest homes are about a half-mile away. Firefighters have been digging trenches to keep the flames from spreading. The blaze that began yesterday has been pushed by winds as high as 30 miles per hour.

HOUSTON (AP) It's the last day of open enrollment for uninsured Texans to buy plans through the federal marketplace. Health care facilities and hospitals will open late into the night as they race toward the 11 p.m. deadline. Nearly one in four people lack insurance in Texas.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Top business associations are forming a coalition to press for immigration reform. Members include the Texas Restaurant Association, Texas Association of Retailers, Texas Hotel and Lodging Association and the South Texas Property Rights Association. They will join the Partnership for a New Economy. It's a national, non-partisan group lobbying to streamline the national immigration system.
