AUSTIN, Texas (AP) President Barack Obama has met with Texas state Senator Wendy Davis, the Democratic nominee for governor. The White House says Obama visited briefly with Davis today at the LBJ Presidential Library in the state capital of Austin.

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) The father of the 21-year-old Marine killed in an accidental shooting says his son overcame physical hurdles to join his two other brothers in the Marine Corps. Aubrey Boterf says his son, Lance Corporal Mark Boterf, was born in Amory, Mississippi but moved to the Fort Worth suburb of Crowley in 2012 along with his nine siblings. His twin brother, Michael Stephen, also a Marine, says Mark underwent surgery to correct a hernia and then pushed himself to quickly meet the Corps' physical standards.

DALLAS (AP) The bullhorn George W. Bush used as president to address rescuers at ground zero in the days after Sept. 11, 2001, has been sent to the national museum opening next month in New York City dedicated to chronicling the terrorist attacks. The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in Dallas said Thursday that the bullhorn was hand-delivered to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) The Texas Rangers have been to consecutive World Series, had a perfect game and hosted Major League Baseball's first regular-season interleague game since moving into their ballpark 20 years ago. The 20th anniversary of the first regular-season game played there is Friday.
