AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A Texas judge is allowing state prison officials to keep the identity of its execution drug supplier secret for now. Attorneys for death row inmates say they need the compounding pharmacy's name to ensure the drugs' quality. The state says that would put the company at risk to threats of violence.
HOUSTON (AP) Jurors are set to start deliberating punishment for a Houston woman convicted of murder for fatally stabbing her boyfriend with the 5 -inch stiletto heel of her shoe. The Harris County jury found Ana Trujillo (troo-HEE'-yoh) guilty in last June's killing of Alf Stefan Andersson at his Houston condominium. Prosecutors say she pinned him down and stabbed him at least 25 times with her shoe.
HOUSTON (AP) The private developer of a winged spacecraft concept called the Dream Chaser is partnering with the city of Houston on a proposed project to renovate historic Ellington Field into a spaceport. Sierra Nevada is one of the companies NASA asked to develop the company's Dream Chaser spacecraft. Ellington Field was built as an Army flying school in 1917.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Former President George W. Bush has closed a three-day civil rights summit in Texas by saying education is the key for opportunity for poor and minority children. Bush said he fears what he calls the 'soft bigotry' of low expectations is returning 50 years after the signing of the Civil Rights Act. Bush signed the No Child Left Behind law in 2002.
