AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Senator Marco Rubio of Florida is giving an address in Austin Tuesday afternoon sponsored by various University of Texas organizations. It's bringing him to the home turf of two other potential White House contenders in 2016, Senator Ted Cruz and Governor Rick Perry.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Texas (AP) A six-year-old girl was struck and killed by a school bus Tuesday morning in northeast Bexar County. Officials with the Judson Independent School District say the girl was struck about half a mile away from Coronado Village Elementary School. Investigators questioned the school bus driver but say no charges are expected.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) Attorneys are trying to stop Wednesday's scheduled execution of a man convicted of killing three people at a Corpus Christi home. Lawyers say they've found new evidence that Jose Villegas (vee-AY'-gus) is mentally impaired and need more time to investigate. Villegas was convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend, her three-year-old son and her mother in 2001.

HOUSTON (AP) The Houston school district is spending thousands of dollars on new mascots at four schools to replace nicknames it says are racially or historically insensitive. It is getting rid of the names Indians, Warriors and Rebels and replacing them with Texans, Huskies and Wolf Pack.
