AUSTIN, Texas (AP) An Austin woman has pleaded guilty to murder in the beating death of a boy that was the result of a feud between families over money. Christina Reynero accepted a plea deal yesterday and was sentenced to five years in prison. An arrest warrant indicates Reynero participated in the November 2012 beating of Jorge Medina Jr.
HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) Texas has executed its seventh inmate this year. Jose Villegas was lethally injected yesterday after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected arguments he was mentally impaired and ineligible for the death penalty. Texas is the nation's most active death penalty state.

A fire at the West Fertilizer Company triggered a blast so powerful that it leveled nearby homes and schools. There are signs of recovery, including dozens of new homes. But residents know they have a long way to go.
HARLINGEN, Texas (AP) U.S. Senator Ted Cruz is making his second visit to the 1,200-mile Texas-Mexico border since taking office nearly 16 months ago. Cruz last visited the border in September for three events in McAllen and Mission. A Cruz proposal to triple the number of border patrol agents and quadruple the equipment used along the U.S.-Mexico border didn't make it to a Senate floor vote.
