NEW ORLEANS (AP) A federal agency looking into the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion says it plans to release two volumes of a four-volume report on the disaster on June 5 at a public meeting in Houston. The Chemical Safety Board says the focus of its investigation is to prevent such accidents in the future. The April 20, 2010, explosion on a rig under contract to BP killed 11 people and sent millions of gallons of oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico.
HOUSTON (AP) An armed security guard at a Houston condominium complex has been fatally shot and police are seeking a man who fled after being denied entry. Police say 51-year-old Rene Almeida was shot Friday near a small security structure at an entrance to the gated complex. Police are reviewing security camera video.
HOUSTON (AP) A teenager has been charged with burglary after security video from inside a Houston-area house showed a man with a flashlight peering at a sleeping toddler in a crib. The Harris County Sheriff's Office says nobody was hurt in the April 5th burglary and 18-year-old Christopher Gomez faces an initial court appearance Monday.
GRANBURY, Texas (AP) Authorities believe skeletal remains found inside a truck recovered from a North Texas lake are those of a woman missing for 35 years. The Hood County Sheriff's Office says a passer-by discovered the partially exposed 1970s-model Chevy truck Thursday in Lake Granbury. The ongoing drought has dropped the lake's water level, revealing a portion of the vehicle.
